Azerbaijan holds second place in pipeline gas exports to Türkiye

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. In January 2024, Azerbaijan maintained its position among the top exporters of pipeline gas to Türkiye, despite a slight decrease in exports by 0.47 percent compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports via the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of Türkiye (EPDK).

Azerbaijan exported 877.74 million cubic meters of natural gas to Türkiye during this time, securing the second position in terms of volume.

Russia emerged as the leading exporter of natural gas to Türkiye in January 2024, with shipments totaling almost 2.682 billion cubic meters, marking a significant increase of 29.73 percent compared to the previous year. Iran followed closely in third place, exporting 871.27 million cubic meters of natural gas, which was three times more than its exports in January 2023.

Türkiye demonstrated an overall increase in gas imports by 7.80 percent compared to January 2023, reaching almost 6.520 billion cubic meters. Of this, pipeline supplies accounted for approximately 4.431 billion cubic meters, while LNG imports amounted to 2.089 billion cubic meters.

Notably, Türkiye's pipeline gas imports surged by 37.73 percent, whereas LNG imports experienced a decline of 26.22 percent compared to January 2023.
