Azerenerji to define contractor under substation by July

By the end of June, Azenerji AO is planning to define contractor under construction of 330kV Khachmaz substation. Trend reports with reference to Azenerji AO, the tender commission is leading a tender together with consultant Darl-Handasa. Six bidders, Siemens, ABB, Areva, Sunir, NEC and CNEEC, have already submitted their proposals. Upon selecting and approving the winner by bank-creditor (IDB), the contract will be awarded.

The construction operations are expected to start by the end of 2006. Construction site is already defined too. A module power plant and adjoining 110kV substation are being erected in one of the site segments.

IDB issued a $13.508mln credit for construction at 6% annual interest.

Khachmaz substation is supplied via Yashma-Derbend power line purposed for power exchange between Azerbaijan and Russia. Its operation will enable raising the power system flexibility and improve power distribution in said region, as well as reduce transmission losses. In the outlook, this project may become an important link within construction of second power line Yashma-Derbend.
