Wartsila to Apply Nee Technologies in Azerbaijan

Oil&Gas Materials 19 October 2006 17:09 (UTC +04:00)

Finland`s Wartsila has offered a new technology on charging over the Sangachal module power station from gas to mazut and vice-versa, that will significantly accelerate this process. Earlier the company offered the time on charging over of 24 hours. At present, the time has been reduced to half an hour, Marlen Asgarov, Vice-President of Azernerji JSC told Trend today.

Earlier President of В"Azernerji Etibar Piriverdiyev pointed out that the construction of new power generating capacities in Sangachal region is in need to supply the Absheron peninsula with electric power in workmanlike manner and uninterruptedly. Despite of the construction of new combined-cycle plants in Sumgayit and in the power station Shimal (North), such problems might be available. That is explained with the fact that the distributing networks have exhausted their resources. Some of them have operated for more than 25 years. There are networks installed 60 years ago, pointed out Mr. Piriverdiyev.

An agreement on construction of this power station is expected to be signed till the end of the year. At present, Azerenerji and the Finnish company Wartsila are completing the preparation for a new contract on construction of a 300-РњWatt module power station to be located in Sangachal (50 km south from Baku City). This station will operate only on gas and mazut.

In 2005, Azernerji ordered five module power stations with the total capacity of 450 РњWatt. Two out of them (Astara and Shaki Districts) have already been put into commission. The other three ones are expected to be put into commission till the end of the year. In 2005, Wartsila constructed power stations to the total capacity of 1607 РњWatt in different countries. Their cost exceeds в'¬710 m.
