SOCAR Completing Overhaul of Platforms

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) is completing the overhaul of the two-block stationary platform Gunashli-3 installed on the shallow sector of the field Guanshli at a depth of 110 meters, the SOCAR Press Service informed, Trend reports.

The platform which is considered for drilling 24 wells was put into commission in 1985. The platform equipment is aimed at using aggressive deep water strata to be in operation for a period of 50 years. At present, it is necessary to overhaul the platform. The work has been carried out by Caspian Sea Oil and Gas Constructions. To date, decks at a total area of 6,000 sq. m has been renewed on the first and second stages of the platform. Construction aimed at mooring, lowering, as well as a helipad has been renewed. Work on the oil and gas pipeline, as well as other fire risk facilities of the platform has been

carried out. The housing block aimed at accommodating 72 persons has also been overhauled.

Work on the platform Gunashli-2 is also underway. The platform was put into commission in 1983. At present, 12 wells are operated by the platform. Both the platforms are expected to be handed over to the State Commission in November-December this year.

According to a program approved by the Production Association Azneft and SOCAR, two platforms are subjected to overhaul on the field Gunashli every year. Last year, such an overhaul was carried out on the platforms Gunashli-6 and Gunashli-9. In 2007, the corresponding work is expected to be implemented on the platforms Gunsahli-5 and Gunashli-10. All the work is being carried out in accordance with international standards.
