Kazakh banking sector sees decrease of assets

Total assets of banking sector of Kazakhstan amounted to 24.9 trillion tenge on June 1, 2019, which is 1.3 percent less than in the beginning of the year, Trend reports with reference to National Bank of Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, some 48.4 percent of the assets structure accounts for loans, 21.5 percent for securities portfolio, 12.2 percent for cash money, refined precious metals and correspondent accounts.

Loans the debt of which exceeds 90 days (NPL) amounted to 1.3 trillion tenge or 9.7 percent of the loan portfolio.

Provisions on loans portfolio formed equaled to 2.3 trillion tenge or 17.5 percent of the loans portfolio.

Total volume of banking sector’s liabilities in the reporting period amounted to 21.89 trillion tenge, which is 1.5 percent more than in the beginning of the year.

In the structure of the banks’ liabilities some 75.4 percent account for customer’s deposits, 8.3 percent for securities in circulation, 2.7 percent for loans from other banks and organizations, which perform certain banking transfers.

Liabilities of the banks before non-residents of Kazakhstan amounted to 1.5 trillion tenge or 7.3 percent of the total liabilities.

Total own capital of the banking sector equaled to 3.03 trillion tenge, which is 0.4 percent more than in April 2019.

Net income in January-May 2019 amounted to 124.4 billion tenge. Net interest margin and interest spread of the second tier banks amounted to 5.1 percent and 3.9 percent respectively.

Currently there are 28 operating banks in Kazakhstan.
