By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran’s annual transit may be increased to about 50 million tons of goods through enhancing the capacity in the transport and transit sectors, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development Shahram Adamnejad said, Trend reports citing ISNA.

Adamnejad said that there is potential for transit of about 12 million tons of goods per year and this potential is fully used.

Adamnejad added that transit may increase by 30-50 million tons.

“Several transit corridors have become active in Iran, including the Afghanistan-Iran-Turkey corridor,” Adamnejad added. “These corridors may help increase transit of goods.”

The increase in transit volumes will make Iran’s revenues and employment grow, the minister noted.
