Georgia increases import of medicines from Turkey

Georgia increased import of medicines from Turkey from January through September 2019, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

Some 1,025 tons of medicines worth a total of $64.4 million were exported from Turkey to Georgia.

Over the same period last year, 559 tons of medicines were exported from Turkey to Georgia, totaling $41.7 million.

For nine months of 2019, total imports to Georgia from Turkey amounted to $1.1 billion. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $155 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey from January to August 2019 exceeded $1.2 billion, which is 14.1 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

The Geostat report notes that Turkey remains the largest trading partner for Georgia.
