Uzbekistan's Healthline to launch third disposable medical gloves production line with EBRD support

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 18

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

Healthline, a leading manufacturer of disposable medical devices in Uzbekistan, will launch a third line for the production of disposable medical gloves with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Trend reports referring to the press service of EBRD.

“Due to the significant increase in demand for affordable medical supplies in Uzbekistan caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the EBRD has provided a local currency loan equivalent to $2.8 million,” the EBRD office in Uzbekistan said.

The bank noted that the funds in local currency will protect the borrower from foreign exchange risks, the organization noted.

The new production line will be launched in the first quarter of 2021 and will help expand Healthline's main production site in Tashkent.

The company will be able to meet the ever-growing domestic demand for disposable medical devices, which is expected to grow by up to 11 percent per year over the next five years. Healthline will also be able to increase its exports to Central Asian countries and enter new markets including Russia, Europe, and North America.

To date, the EBRD has invested €1.92 billion ($2.35 billion) in 85 projects in Uzbekistan.

JV Healthline LLC is a limited liability company incorporated in Uzbekistan in 2004. The company is a leading local manufacturer and trader of disposable medical devices including disposable syringes, intravenous sets, gynecological speculums, blood lancets, catheters, and dialysis filters.
