Azerbaijan records growth in volume of deposited securities

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 25

The National Depository Center of Azerbaijan (NDC) signed contracts totaling over 1 billion manat ($590 million) with 97 new issuers, and the number of serviced issuers reached 2,092 in 2020, Trend reports referring to reporting data of NDC.

According to the data, overall indicators for contracts grew by 43 percent compared to 2019.

As of early 2021, the volume of securities held by NDC rose by more than 5 percent and reached 45 billion manat ($26.4 billion). The stored shares increased by 3 percent, amounting to 22 billion manat ($12.9 billion), and bonds - by 7 percent, making up over 22 billion manat. The notes of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan show an increase of 1 percent and amounted to 780 million manat ($458.8 million).

Earlier, the NDC of Azerbaijan approved a strategy for 2021-2025, where the main goals for the next five years are to establish links with foreign depositories, create risk management systems, and create a modern information platform to promote the capital market.
