Central Insurance of Iran clarifies insurance activities

The number of insurance certificates issued in Iran decreased by 4.2 percent over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Director General of the Central Insurance of Iran Gholamreza Soleymani told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Soleymani, 68.6 million insurance certificates were issued in Iran within the last Iranian year.

“In addition, 34 million people were paid insurance premiums in connection with various events. This is 42.4 percent more than the preceding Iranian year,” he added.

The director-general noted that currently, insurance companies in Iran are very interested in participating in the capital market. The insurance companies invested 500 trillion rials (about $11.9 billion) in the capital market over the last Iranian year.

Soleymani said that the participation of Iranian insurance companies in the capital market is temporary. After that, insurance companies will continue to actively participate in the capital market.
