Dollarization on bank deposits of individuals decreases in Azerbaijan

The bank deposits of individuals in foreign currency in Azerbaijan from January through July 2021 amounted to 3.8 billion manat ($2.2 billion), which is by six percent less than in the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the statistics report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

The share of deposits of individuals in foreign currency in the total amount of deposits amounted to 44.7 percent.

According to the CBA, deposits of the population, including funds of individuals engaged in entrepreneurship, in national currency reached 4.8 billion manat ($2.8 billion) from January through July 2021, which is 29.2 percent more than in the same period of last year.

The share of deposits of individuals in the national currency amounted to 55.3 percent of the total amount of deposits of the population.

In general, the bank deposits of the Azerbaijani population, including individuals engaged in individual entrepreneurship, amounted to 8.6 billion manat ($5.05 billion) during the reporting period, which is by 10.7 percent more than from January through July 2020.

The deposits of residents and non-residents reached 8.3 billion manat ($4.9 billion) and 284.7 million manat ($167.5 million), respectively.

On an annualized basis, deposits of residents increased by 861.5 million manat $506.8 million (11.5 percent), while deposits of non-residents decreased by 29.8 million manat $17.5 million (9.5 percent).

The deposits in Azerbaijani banks reached 25 billion manat ($14.7 billion) as of early August, which is by 10.6 percent more than in the same period of last year.
