Iran's CBI unveils value of foreign assets of Iranian banks

The value of foreign assets of Central Bank of Iran, other Iranian banks and financial institutions amounted to 6.69 quadrillion rials (about $162 billion) in total at the end of the 5th month of the current Iranian year (August 22, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).

According to the statistics, this is an increase of 34.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure was 5.05 quadrillion rials (about $120 billion) in the same period last Iranian year.

“So, the value of foreign assets of the CBI amounted to 4.81 quadrillion rials (about $115 billion) at the end of fifth month, which is an increase of 29.3 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure stood at 3.72 quadrillion rials (about $88.6 billion) in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

In addition, the value of foreign assets of other banks and financial institutions in Iran for the reporting period amounted to 1.98 quadrillion rials (about $47 billion), which an increase of 48.5 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year. Meanwhile in the same period last Iranian year, this figure was 1.33 quadrillion rials (about $31.7 billion), the statistics said.
