Iran and Russia to implement banking agreements

TEHRAN, Iran, July 11. The monetary and banking agreements between Iran and Russia will be implemented in the near future, said the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Ali Salehabadi, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"The two countries are having ongoing negotiations to prepare the ground for sustainable and developed ties," he said.

Salehabadi pointed out that the two sides are pursuing to substitute other currencies for the US dollar and euro.

He noted that Iran is currently seeking a local banking system to substitute for SWIFT and Russia could cooperate in this regard.

The official has referred to his recent visit to Moscow as a good sign in improving ties between Iranian and Russian businessmen.
