BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 31. The total deposits of the Azerbaijani population increased by 2.38 billion manat ($1.4 billion), or 27.01 percent as of September 31, 2022 compared to the same month the previous year - from 8.83 billion manat ($5.19 billion) up to 11.2 billion manat ($6.5 billion), Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).
According to the CBA, a total of 9.95 billion manat ($5.8 billion), or 88.7 percent of all bank deposits fell on Baku, while 1.26 billion manat ($741.1 million), or about 11.3 percent – on the districts.
Meanwhile, 60.79 percent (6.8 billion manat, or $4 billion) of bank deposits were in national currency, whereas 39.21 percent (4.4 billion manat, or $2.5 billion) – were in foreign currency.
The average annual deposit rate as of September 31, 2022 was 3.32 percent, while in Baku – 3.18 percent.
