Azerbaijan, Russia to mull coordination of GSM frequency

On Sept. 7-9, Azerbaijan and Russia will agree on the coordination of GSM-frequencies in border areas, Chief Adviser of the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Gulam Abdullayev told Trend Capital.

On Sept. 7-9, Azerbaijan and Russia will agree on the coordination of GSM-frequencies in border areas, Chief Adviser of the Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Gulam Abdullayev told Trend .

Abdullayev said the representatives of the Azerbaijani and Russian mobile operators will participate in the event organized on this occasion in Moscow. The main goal is to prevent the occurrence of crossing frequencies and ensuring the normal functioning of mobile communications in border areas.

After the meeting, the sides will agree the issue on the use of frequency resources by the two countries' operators on an equal level. Thus, specific frequency resources will be identified for the GSM operators in the border territories and they will not be used by another party.

Following the meeting, the parties will sign a protocol.
