As of Jan.1, the number of automatic telephone exchange amounted to 87.05 in Azerbaijan, or 3.95 percent more compared to 2008, Communication and IT Ministry said.
According to the ministry, this figure in Baku is 90 percent and in the rest of the country 84.1 percent.
The number of rural automatic telephone exchange was 83.8 percent for the period.
The number of basic telephone sets increased by 86,842 units (82,431 MCIT units) and reached 1,395598 units (1 255 001 MCIT units).
At the moment, the total number of telephone sets per 100 people is 16 units. This figure is 34.4 units in the capital, 10.5 units in the regions and 6.9 units in rural areas.
