Azerbaijan expects the opensource market to grow. It solves the problem of effective competition, Azercell Telecom General Director Ali Agan said today.

According to Agan, this year will be a turning point for the opensource market. The creation of software with open codes will become more attractive to businesses.

These products gradually assist, even replace commercial software. The opensource market is growing much faster than the rest of the IT market.

Internet technologies will play a significant role in the development of the market. The transfer of open platforms is implemented through it, Azercell Telecom head said.

"Our main task is to launch a third generation network, which will open new opportunities for the development of the opensource market. The 3G standard will play a significant role in the development of the Internet market. Competition on this market segment will significantly reduce tariffs for Internet access," Agan said.

Today, the question of granting licenses for 3G deployment is considered by the Communications and IT Ministry, Agan said.
