Microsoft Azerbaijan signs memorandum to combat software piracy in Azerbaijan

Microsoft Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Baku representative of the Softline Company, aimed at combating software piracy.

Microsoft Azerbaijan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Baku representative of the Softline Company, aimed at combating software piracy.

Signed memorandum between Microsoft Azerbaijan and Softline envisages conducting activities to reduce level of piracy in Azerbaijan.

Initiator of the signed memorandum is USAID.

Today the volume of the pirated products in the software market of Azerbaijan industry is 90 percent, while the average world figure is 40 percent, USAID Mission Director of the Caucasian Jonathan Conley said.

Reducing piracy will play an important role in economic development and job growth. It is planned that the Central Bank of Azerbaijan will also participate in the first phase of the memorandum. At the next stages is expected to connect to the memorandum the Education Ministry and the Azerbaijan Copyright Agency.
