By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Azerbaijani Communications and High Technologies Ministry submitted to the government a proposal to expand the POS-terminal network at the departments and branches of the postal operator - Azerpoct LLC, the ministry told Trend.

The ministry said that the main goal of increasing the POS-terminals in Azerpoct's postal network is to expand its capabilities in issuing wages as well as simplify the issuing of pension benefits.

"If the project is approved by the government, the installation of POS-terminals in the post offices will acquire a mass character," the ministry said.

It is planned to install at least one or two POS-terminals in each branch of the postal operator. The pilot project for giving pensions using POS-terminals was launched in mid-2012 in the village of Chayrut of Lerik District (325 km from the capital Baku).

The pension card holders were given the opportunity to cash out money on their cards via a POS-terminal at the box office of Azerpoct's branch.

The project is envisaged to be realized at other districts of the country as well, mainly in remote villages and towns.
