Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / Azerbaijan has plans to expand introduction of electronic money orders with the MTF/ STEFI system. The head of the Postal Section of the Azerbaijan Communications and IT Ministry, Novruz Mammadov, reported on 27 June that during his visit to St Petersburg for participation in the 8th International Strategic Forum of 'Postal Tree - 2007' a meeting with representatives of the postal administration of France, Estonia and Latvia took place.
According to Mammadov, the French side noted the possibility of implementing money order systems with MTF/ STEFI with Azerbaijan from 2008. For the time being France has the service with Russia.
Talks to speed up analogue work were held with France, and on introduction of the service with EUROGIRO with Latvia.
Azerbaijan is implementing electronic postal money orders with MTF/STEFI with Russia, Moldova, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates. There are plans to begin cooperation in this field with Central Asian countries.
