BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 8. As many as 137,490 foreigners visited Azerbaijan in May 2022, up by 166 percent compared to the same month of 2021, Trend reports citing the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

From January through May 2022, 468,170 tourists visited Azerbaijan, which was 118 percent more than in the same period of 2021 (162,991).

Most of the foreigners who visited Azerbaijan in May 2022 were the citizens of Turkiye (32,700 people), Russia (28,800 people), Iran (16,100 people), and Saudi Arabia (8,600 people) and Georgia (6,300 people). This indicator is followed by UAE (5,100 people), Pakistan (4,900 people), India (4,800 people), Kazakhstan (3,000 people) and Israel (2,200 people).

In the reporting month, the number of visitors to Azerbaijan from Belarus increased by 3.3 times (1,700 people), while from Oman – by 525 times (2,100 people) against the same month in 2021.
