BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 18. A total of 1.48 million Azerbaijani citizens traveled to foreign countries in 2022, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.
This figure grew by 1.5 times compared to 2021.
The committee noted that 44 percent of the above Azerbaijani citizens visited Türkiye, 18 percent – Russia, 13.6 percent – Iran, 8.5 percent – Georgia, and 15.8 percent – other countries.
The number of citizens of Azerbaijan who visited Iran increased by 3.1 times, Türkiye – by 1.4 times, Georgia – by 1.7 times, and Russia – by 12.9 percent year over year.
As many as 1.602 million foreigners and stateless persons from 178 countries visited Azerbaijan in 2022, which is 2 times more than in 2021.
Meanwhile, in 2021, the number of Azerbaijani citizens visiting foreign countries decreased by 16.3 percent compared to 2020, amounting to 974,500 people.
According to the statistics, from January through December 2021, 47.3 percent of those Azerbaijani citizens visited Türkiye, 24.3 percent - Russia, 6.8 percent - Iran, 7.8 percent - Georgia, 13.8 percent - other countries.
