Ports of Hormozgan Province continue their operations in the new Iranian year (began March 20, 2020) despite Nowruz holidays, said Managing Director of Port and Maritime Organization in Hormozgan Province Allahmorad Afifi told Trend.

"In total, 17 ships have imported basic goods to Shahid Rajaei port from March 21, and they will continue the work according to the schedule until April 3," the managing director said.

"In order to provide basic goods for public needs, especially sanitary items, all trade ports in Hormozgan Province and particularly the Shahid Rajaei port, the country's biggest port, will be operating during Nowruz holidays," he added.

"Since the beginning of the coronavirus spread, all the necessary measures have been implemented in Iran's ports including the Shahid Rajaei port to prevent the disease among the staff members," the official said.

"According to the National Headquarter to Fight Coronavirus regulations, tourism and sea travels in Iranian ports are banned. It is also advised that people postpone their travels to Hormozgan Province," he said.
