Kazakhstan reports country-wide decrease in cargo transport volume

A total of 282.1 million tons of cargo was transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in Jan. 2021, which is 4 percent less than in Jan. 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

Thus, the majority of the cargo was transported in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region. The volume of cargo transported in the region amounted to 48.6 million tons in December, which is 10.8 percent less than during the same period last year.

Karaganda region is followed by the East Kazakhstan region with 47.4 million tons transported in Jan. 2021 (a decrease of 2.5 percent compared to Jan. 2020).

Almaty city takes third place country-wide by the cargo transported in Jan. 2021 (21.6 million tons, up by 0,1 percent).

The least cargo volume was transported in the West Kazakhstan region. The transported cargo volume stood at 3.1 million tons of cargo in Jan. 2021, which is 16.5 percent more than in Jan. 2020.

The volume of cargo transported over 2020 amounted to 3.9 billion tons, which is 6.6 percent less year-on-year compared to 4.2 billion tons over the same period of last year.
