Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgia takes active steps in developing its transit and logistics potential, said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.

Garibashvili made the remark in the parliament as part of his annual report. The 151-page report on the government performance reflects foreign policy, security, conflict resolution, human rights, economic development, social affairs and governance.

He also pointed out that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway was completed by 82 percent, and shipments are already being made in pilot mode.

Garibashvili focused on the implemented infrastructure projects, saying that approximately 600 kilometres of roads were overhauled in the country. In particular, the 70-kilometer-long highway was opened, which reduced duration of Tbilisi-Batumi travel time by one hour.

“All large or small projects aim to strengthen the region, create new jobs,” Garibashvili said.

According to the prime minister, the country is developing transit and logistics potential, transport infrastructure, integration into international transport networks and the transformation of Georgia into a regional hub.
