Freight traffic on the Azerbaijani section of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia International Transport Corridor (TRACECA) exceeded 20.3 million tons from January through June 2021, which is 6.3 percent less compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistical Committee's report.
During the specified period, cargo transportation in Azerbaijan amounted to about 4.8 billion ton-kilometers, which is 2 percent less than a year earlier.
Cargo transportation by road amounted to 11.4 million tons, or 56.1 percent of the total cargo transportation, by rail - 6.59 million tons (32.5 percent), by sea - almost 2.32 million tons (11.4 percent).
Transit cargo transportation amounted to 4.65 million tons (22.9 percent of the total cargo traffic).
