Volume of cargo loaded/unloaded in Iran’s Imam Khomeini port grows

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 20 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Director General for Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritime Department Adil Deris said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

Deris said that 18.5 million tons of oil and non-oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port over the five months.

“Of this, 11.3 million tons were non-oil products, and more than 7 million tons were oil products,” he added.

The director general noted that a total of 6.89 million tons of essential products were unloaded in the port in five months. This is an increase of 17 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, Iran's Imam Khomeini port, located on 11,000 hectares, has capacity to load and unloaded 54.5 million tons of cargo per year.
