Kazakhstan's revenues from passenger transport via internal waters skyrocket

Kazakhstan’s revenues from the transportation of passengers via internal water transport amounted to 130.9 million tenge ($303,010) over the period from January through October 2021, which is 5.1 times more than during the same period of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue in October 2021 amounted to 13.2 million tenge ($30,555), which is 67.8 times more than 0.2 million tenge ($460) during the same month of 2020.

The number of passengers transported via maritime and coastal transport during the reporting period amounted to 86,950 people, which is 2.2 times more compared to the same period of last year (39,220 people over the same period of 2020).

The number of passengers transported in October alone was 6,550 people, which is 3.04 times more than during the same month of last year.

Passenger turnover amounted to 1.4 million ton-kilometers which compared to 0.5 million passenger -kilometers during the same period of last year is a 2.6 times increase.

Currently, there are three operating seaports in Kazakhstan: Aktau, Bautino, and Kuryk.

Nowadays, Aktau International Commercial Sea Port is a modern multi-purpose terminal that allows the transportation of goods from East to West, from North to South, and back 12 months a year and 24 hours a day.

Bautino сargo port is a division of Aktau International Commercial Sea Port and is located in the village of Bautino (150 km from the city of Aktau), in the waters of the Bautino Bay of Tyubkaragansky Gulf.

Kuryk Port is located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, south of Aktau city. The port has direct access to the railway. The ferry complex of the port is designed for the transshipment of goods, including grain, petroleum products, fertilizers, and chemicals.
