Passenger transportation via Iran’s Mehrabad International Airport up

The number of passengers transported through Mehrabad International Airport in the Tehran Province (northern Iran) increased by 7 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, a total of 6,619,991 passengers were transported through Mehrabad International Airport in 8 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 6,163,589.

Over 8 months, 78,763 flights (passenger planes only) were carried out from the airport, which is an increase of 22 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, the figure amounted to 64,311 in the same period last Iranian year.

“Moreover, 51,300 tons of cargo were transported through Mehrabad Airport in 8 months. Cargo transportation increased by 19 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. About 43,000 tons of cargo had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Iran's Mehrabad International Airport can receive 18 million passengers a year.
