BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 8. The volume of cargo transshipped through Kazakhstan's seaport to Azerbaijan amounted to 1.9 million tons in eight months of 2022, Trend reports via Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan.

The issue was discussed at the ministry meeting on the current situation with cargo transportation through seaports and along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

It was noted that development of transport infrastructure and transit connectivity of cargo flows directly affects the enhance of competitiveness of TITR, and the role of Kazakhstan's Aktau and Kyryk seaports has increased. Thus, 1.9 million tons of cargo was transshipped from Kazakhstan's seaport to Azerbaijan in the eight months of 2022, which is 2.1 times more than in the same period last year.

In addition, a dynamic growth is seen in the volume of cargo transportation through TITR. In particular, 1.3 million tons of cargo was transported through TITR in eight months of 2022, which is 2.5 times more than in the same period the previous year.

Trans-Caspian International Transport Route's transport infrastructure allows to transport about 6 million tons of cargo, including 80,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU).
