Iran spends millions of dollars for new ‘Shahr-e Parand’ railway line

BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 30. Iran has spent a total of 9.5 trillion rials (about $226 million) on the ‘Shahr-e Parand’ railway line and station, Trend reports.

The "Shahre Parand" railway line and station in Tehran province, in the north of the country, was officially opened on November 30, 2023. The opening ceremony was attended by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Roads and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash and other officials. This railway route connects Iran's capital, Tehran, with Parand city.

In total, the length of the railway line between the city of Tehran and the city of Parand is 48.2 km. The construction of this railway line started in 2011.

Meanwhile, two new stations on the railway line opened in 2017. The referenced railway line is an extension of Tehran's metro line No. 1.

Iran’s Parand is a city with a population of around 450,000 people. Many of them, about 40,000, travel to Tehran daily for work or other reasons.
