Georgia's foreign debt amounts to $4.2 billion

According to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as of May 31, 2013, Georgia’s external debt and loans taken under government guarantees totaled $4.207 billion. From the year’s start, the Georgian government’s debt decreased by $149.5 million.

According to the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, as of May 31, 2013, Georgia's external debt and loans taken under government guarantees totaled $4.207 billion. From the year's start, the Georgian government's debt decreased by $149.5 million.

According to the report, out of the total amount, Georgian government's debt amounts to $3.929 billion.

Some 17 countries have provided loans to Georgia with total amount of debt to them amounting to $739.318 million.

Some of the creditor countries are: Austria ($8.511 million), Azerbaijan ($12.699 million), Turkmenistan ($211,000 dollars), Turkey ($24.270 million), Iran ($9.925 million), Russia (104.568 million), Armenia ($15.103 million), Uzbekistan ($314,000), Ukraine ($287,000), Kazakhstan ($27.774 million), China ($4.404 million), Germany ($328.336 million) , Japan ($92.279 million), Kuwait ($22.706 million), the Netherlands ($3.811 million), USA ($32 .139 million), France ($51.982 million).

Along with the states, Georgia is also credited by international financial institutions, total debt to which amounts to $2.686 billion. In particular, debt to the World Bank amounts to $1.271 billion, the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development - $358.492 million, the International Monetary Fund - $353.953 million, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development - $100.305 million, the International Fund for Agricultural Development - $24.600 million, the Asian Development Bank - $424.163 million, the European Investment Bank - $153.607 million.

Another lender of Georgia is Germany, which has given a loan under the state guarantee in the amount of $3.016 million.

$278.471 million of the total amount of the debt falls to the share of the National Bank of Georgia. The National Bank's is credited by the International Monetary Fund. The data presented does not include funds for debt service.
