Shoppers in the Kazakh business capital Almaty will be able to peruse the aisles of a Saks Fifth Avenue store by August 2012, the retailer said on Tuesday.
The 91,000-square-foot, three-level store will be built in the Esentai Shopping Mall in the southern city, Central Asia Newswire reported referring to the press release.
"We are so excited to bring our first store to this part of the world and believe that Almaty, Kazakhstan, with its rapidly expanding affluent population, will be a great fit for Saks Fifth Avenue," Saks Incorporated CEO Stephen I. Sadove said in the release.
"We hope that the residents of and visitors to Almaty will enjoy our differentiated, world-class selection of luxury brands and services."
The front of the store building will also boast a three-storey digital video screen to welcome shoppers to the iconic store, first founded in 1924 in New York.
The store also plans to host visits by foreign designers as well as fashion shows. The store is known for its designer brands fitting men, women and children.
