Kazakhstan is adherent to the idea of nuclear-free world, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon wrote in the congratulation letter to the people of Kazakhstan on the occasion of twentieth anniversary of the country’s independence.

Kazakhstan is adherent to the idea of nuclear-free world, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon wrote in the congratulation letter to the people of Kazakhstan on the occasion of twentieth anniversary of the country's independence.

"Not many countries show such strength to promote nuclear disarmament as Kazakhstan does. I am grateful to Kazakhstan for its adherence to building world free of nuclear weapons" Ban Ki-moon wrote, Novosti Kazakhstan reported.

Ban Ki-moon's letter was read by the chairman of the Kazakh Senate, Kairat Mami, at the ceremony on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the country's independence in Astana on Thursday.
