BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 7. Kazakh government will allocate 413,000 tons of diesel fuel for spring field work in 2023, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan.

The ministry said that the government would start the gradual allocation of diesel fuel in February to avoid a shortage of fuel.

The subsidized price for diesel fuel is set at 222,000 Kazakh tenge ($484.2) per ton. When taking shipment costs into account, the price difference amounts to 15-20 percent between subsidized and retail prices.
The Ministry of Agriculture also noted that acreage is forecasted to be around 23 million hectares, which is similar to the 2022 figures.

The Kazakh government imposed a ban on gasoline, diesel fuel, and other oil products from being exported under the legislation to contain fuel prices. The move was aimed at satisfying domestic demand. The previous decision on limiting fuel exports expired on 12 January 2023.

This is not the first time Kazakhstan has extended the ban on the export of motor vehicle fuel. In particular, such restrictions were extended for six months in July 2022 and in November 2021.
