BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. Kazakhstan is prepared to supply China with some 135 types of agricultural products worth more than $1 billion, Serik Zhumangarin, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, said, Trend reports, citing the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

The statement was made in the framework of the 2nd Friendly Dialogue of Cross-Border Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, which was held in Almaty.

According to the minister, this can be made possible once China lifts restrictions on the imports of livestock production. He extended the call to lift restrictions by adding that recently World Organization for Animal Health declared five southeast regions of Kazakhstan free from diseases affecting livestock.

Zhumangarin also said that Kazakhstan is interested in increasing wheat exports to China, as there are no infrastructural constraints preventing the country from doing so.

“Kazakhstan is prepared to increase annual wheat export volume to exceed 1 million tons. Existing infrastructure allows us to carry out projects in this field,” the minister said.

He also proposed to create a subcommittee on agriculture between Kazakhstan and China, which will facilitate cooperation between the nations in this sector of the economy.

China is one of its most important trade partners of Kazakhstan. The volume of trade between the two nations reached $24 billion in 2022. Kazakh exports to China increased by around one-third to reach $13 billion, while the value of goods imported to Kazakhstan increased by 33.5 percent and amounted to $11 billion.
