Kazakhstan reveals volume of gold bars sold in August

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 21. Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 3,072 gold bars with a total weight of 137.2 kilograms in August 2023, Trend reports.

As noted by the National Bank of Kazakhstan, the program for the sale and redemption of measured refined gold bars for the population (hereinafter referred to as the Program) was launched by the National Bank in 2017. In total, since the beginning of its operation, 138,255 gold bars with a total weight of 4.8 tons have been sold.

Gold bars are presented in five varieties: 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 g. The most popular among buyers is the 10-gram bar. Its share of total sales is 26 percent—35,842 pieces. This is followed by 5 grams: 31,325 pieces (23 percent), 100 grams: 29,381 pieces (21 percent), 20 grams: 25,050 pieces (18 percent), and 50 grams: 16,657 pieces (12 percent).

The largest volumes of sales of measured gold bars in August 2023 occurred in the following regions: Almaty (1,527 pieces, 55 percent), Shymkent (693 pieces, 25 percent), and Astana (221 pieces, 8 percent).

Kazakhstan's second-tier banks and individual non-bank exchange offices sold 2,787 gold bars with a total weight of 111.1 kilograms in July 2023.
