ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 28. Kazakhstan plans to increase the level of gas supply to the population to 61.1 percent by the end of 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Energy Ministry, today, 60 percent of the population, or 12 million people, have access to natural gas.
As the Ministry noted, this figure was achieved through modernization of the gas transportation system, including the construction of additional lines and reconstruction of existing lines.
"In total, 81.4 billion tenge (about $180.8 million) was allocated from the republican budget for the implementation of 88 projects, of which 21 projects were completed or 28 settlements with a population of 70,200 people received access to natural gas," the ministry said.
As previously stated by the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan, Almassadam Satkaliev, Kazakhstan plans to attract foreign investments to implement large gas projects.
Projects planned for implementation at the expense of foreign investors are the construction of the 2nd line of the main gas pipeline "Beineu - Bozoy - Shymkent" (15 billion m3/year), the construction of the main gas pipeline "Aktobe - Kostanay" (4.1 billion m3/year), the construction of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th stages of the Saryarka main gas pipeline (1.7 billion m3/year), and the construction of the Taldykorgan-Usharal main gas pipeline (385 million m3/year).
By 2030, the level of gas supply to the population is planned to increase to 65 percent.
