Kurmangazi Petroleum РўРћРћ, operator of Kurmangazi field in Caspian Sea, is going on drilling first exploratory well in contract area, Trends correspondent reports from Kazakhstan with reference to KazMunayGazs release.
The drilling contractor under the project is LUKOIL Shelf Ltd., which operates semi-submersible drilling rig Astra. At the moment the company is performing a set of exploratory operations under the design. The operations shall complete by mid-June 2006.
Kurmangazi field is located in reserve area of Caspian Sea, thus conditioning heightened attention to environmental issues. Well drilling incorporates the state-of-the-art equipment and technologies that prevent environment pollution.
Environmental monitoring is conducted alongside the operations, all industrial and household wastes are brought onshore for utilization.
PSA agreement on Kurmangazi field was signed July 6, 2005.
