Kyrgyzstan eyes completion of common gas market development in EAEU by 2025

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 3. Kyrgyzstan hopes that the process of development of the common gas market in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be fulfilled by 2025, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zhaparov, said during the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting in Kazakhstan's Almaty, Trend reports with reference to Russian media.

“I am sure we will be able to decide upon coordinated approaches mindful of the interests of all member states and to launch the common gas market of the union by 2025,” Zhaparov said.

According to him, the EAEU countries are currently actively working on the development of the common gas market. As Zhaparov pointed out, there are some matters on a gas agreement that remained to be coordinated, but the importance and relevance of the project are clear to everyone.

According to the Russian government, a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty is the first meeting within the chairmanship of Russia in 2023. The participants of a narrow format meeting held in Almaty, on February 2, were Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Russia - Alikhan Smailov, Roman Golovchenko, Akylbek Japarov, Nikol Pashinyan, and Mikhail Mishustin respectively. The meeting continues on February 3, with the participation of the delegation of the member countries.

The main themes of negation are the matters of international integration, operation of the internal market of EAEU, financing of the agro-industrial complex, technical regulation, and cooperation in the energy field. Following the meeting, the sides plan to sign joint documents.
