BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Kyrgyzstan imported 3,462 tons of cement from Kazakhstan in January 2023, which is a 2.4 times decrease year-on-year (8,355 tons in January 2022), Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the statistics, Kazakhstan was the sole supplier of cement to Kyrgyzstan in January 2023, while in the same period of 2022, the country also imported 67 tons of cement from Uzbekistan.

The value of the imports totaled $273,500 which is 1.4 times less than $410,200 in January 2022.

Kyrgyzstan imported 242,882 tons of cement for $12 million in 2022. The volume of imports decreased by 1.3 times from 2021 (334,879 tons for $14.3 million).

Last year, Kyrgyzstan mainly imported cement from:

Kazakhstan – 236,054 tons for $11.4 million;

Iran – 4,810 tons for $576,800;

Uzbekistan – 1,937 tons for $235.

Some insignificant amount of cement was also imported from China, Russia, Türkiye, and Belarus in 2022.

Meanwhile, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan reached $98 million in January 2023, with exports from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan totaling $38.8 million and imports from Kazakhstan - $60 million.
