BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, September 12. The main country in terms of foreign direct investment inflow into Kyrgyzstan from January through June 2023 was China, with investments accounting for 23.8 percent of the total foreign incoming investments into Kyrgyzstan, Trend reports.

Data from the State Statistical Committee of the country reveals that among non-CIS countries, China was followed by the UK and the Netherlands, both at 8.6 percent, Türkiye at 7.6 percent, and Switzerland at 5.2 percent.

A total of $296.853 million came from non-CIS countries, constituting 69.2 percent of the total investments in Kyrgyzstan.

Among CIS countries, the primary direct investors in Kyrgyzstan were Russia, contributing 20.3 percent of the total inflow, making Russia the second-largest investor in Kyrgyzstan overall. This was followed by Kazakhstan at 6.9 percent of the total inflow and Uzbekistan at 2.7 percent.

In total, Kyrgyzstan received $132.227 million in direct investments from CIS countries, which accounted for 30.8 percent of the overall inflow of foreign direct investments into Kyrgyzstan.

The inflow of foreign direct investments into Kyrgyzstan amounted to $429 million from January through June 2023, which is a 31.7-percent decrease compared to the same period in 2022.
