BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, February 21. The number of Visa payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan reached 3.249 million, accounting for 47.2 percent of the total number of cards in circulation, as of December 31, 2023, Trend reports.

Data from Kyrgyzstan’s National Bank indicates that this figure increased by 58.7 percent compared to the same date in 2022, when it was 2.046 million. The share of Visa increased from 39.1 percent of the total bank cards in circulation at the end of 2022 to 47.2 percent at the end of December 2023.

Visa was the leading international payment system in the country, accounting for 95 percent of all international system cards. Overall, more than 3.417 million cards in Kyrgyzstan were affiliated with international systems, making up 49.6 percent of the total number of cards in circulation.

The Elcard national payment system comprised 3.472 million cards, accounting for the other 50.4 percent of all cards in circulation.

In total, the number of bank payment cards in circulation in Kyrgyzstan exceeded 6.89 million as of December 31, 2023.
