Kyrgyzstan reveals data on gold exports

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, April 16. Kyrgyzstan exported 1.643 tons of gold from January through February 2024, with the value of exports reaching $107.254 million, Trend reports.

According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, during this period, the country sold gold to Switzerland — over 971 kilograms valued at $63.5 million, and to China's Hong Kong — around 672 kilograms valued at $43.7 million.

To note, during the same period last year, Kyrgyzstan did not register any gold exports.

Meanwhile, Kyrgyzstan exported 20.2 tons of gold in 2023, 69 times more than the 290 kg exported in 2022. The export value reached $1.284 billion, a 14-fold increase since 2022 ($13 million).

Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover totaled $2.255 billion in the first two months of 2024, up 28.3 percent since the same period in 2023 ($1.758 billion).

Exports totaled $307.5 million, up 18.4 percent from January–February 2023 ($259.726 million). Imports, on the other hand, increased by 30 percent year on year, reaching $1.947 billion ($1.498 billion) from January through February 2023.
