The European Union (EU) is financing three projects in Tajikistan in the framework of the "Development of non-governmental organisations" program, for a total amount of 700.000 euros, Asia-Plus reported on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the new program - "Development of non-governmental organisations and local authorities ", introduced in 2007, is designed to support small initiatives of civil organisations and local authorities in development sphere by the EU and partner countries.
As mentioned in the statement, the overall goal of the program is to reduce poverty in the context of sustainable development.
The European Union is an economic and political union of 27 member states which are located primarily in Europe. The EU operates through a system of supranational independent institutions and intergovernmental negotiated decisions by the member states.
