DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 26. EBRD (the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) and GCF (the Green Climate Fund) are collaborating to provide $50 million for Tajikistan under the Green Economy Financing Facility II (GEFF Tajikistan II) program, Trend reports.
This program aims to promote higher standards of energy and resource efficiency while supporting Tajikistan's transition to a more environmentally friendly economy.
GEFF Tajikistan II will encourage residential and commercial borrowers to invest in green and innovative solutions, focusing on efficient water use and sustainable land management. Special attention will be given to Tajikistan's agribusiness sector, which employs nearly half of the country's workforce and contributes over 22.5 percent to the GDP.
GEFF Tajikistan II receives support from donors in South Korea, Austria, and the GCF. It will also facilitate policy discussions with the National Bank of Tajikistan to enhance capacity and manage climate-related risks for participating banks.
Over the past 30 years of cooperation, the EBRD has committed more than 900 million euros to support almost 160 projects in Tajikistan.
