DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 15. The National Bank of Tajikistan and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) discussed cooperation in the banking sector, Trend reports.

According to the Tajik bank, the issue was discussed by Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, and Ronald Gindrat, Program Manager in the Macroeconomic Support Unit at SECO.

Tolibzoda noted that the partnership with SECO has facilitated several significant reforms in Tajikistan's financial sector and banking system in recent years. Projects supported by SECO have led to amendments in various regulatory instructions and provisions concerning corporate governance, financial stability, non-performing loans, and other banking regulatory tools, which have yielded substantial results.

During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening mutual cooperation and effectively utilizing available opportunities.

They also expressed interest in implementing further projects to reform the banking sector, aiming to enhance regulatory mechanisms and oversight of credit institutions and financial entities and establish a legal framework for crisis management in the financial sector, among other objectives.

To note, SECO serves as Switzerland's leading authority on economic and labor market policy.
