Turkmen president appoints head of State Committee on Fishery

Batyr Tekayev has been appointed the chairman of the State Committee on fishery of Turkmenistan, according to the presidential decree.

Mukha Mukhiyev took an office of acting chairman since February, 2009.

Along with Turkmenistan Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia and Iran also border with the Caspian Sea rich with the bio-resources. The fishing industry of the country is being upgraded through establishing modern infrastructure. Balkanbalik remains a leading state-run enterprise, which is involved in fishing in the Caspian Sea and processing.   

Development of aqua-culture in different regions of the country is one of the basic directions of the state committee's activities, which cover breeding of water organisms - fish, mollusks, Crustacea, seaweeds.
