President of Uzbekistan to attend inauguration of Turkmenistan-China pipeline

Recently in a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov, Uzbek leader Islam Karimov confirmed his participation in the opening ceremony of the gas pipeline system from Turkmenistan to China via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Recently in a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdimuhamedov, Uzbek leader Islam Karimov confirmed his participation in the opening ceremony of the gas pipeline system from Turkmenistan to China via Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

Recently the Uzbek and Turkmen stretches of the transnational highway were connected.

The government press-service of Turkmenistan reported that the heads of states, via whose territory the route - "world's longest gas pipeline - passes, have been invited to the opening ceremony scheduled for mid-December. Presidents of China and Kazakhstan also confirmed their participation earlier.

Upon the contract, within 30 years, China will purchase annually up to 40 billion cubic meters of Turkmen gas. In addition, the Chinese CNPC Company has acquired a long-term license in Turkmenistan to carry out work on the Bagtiarlik field on the right bank of the Amu Darya, which will be the main raw material base for the future network.  

According to the report, Karimov also congratulated Berdimuhamedov on the coming 18th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan (October 27, 2009), and wished him and the people of Turkmenistan prosperity and new successes in the implementation of large-scale projects.

Berdimuhamedov mentioned the high level of inter-state dialogue. The sides also exchanged views on the implementation of previous agreements and discussed issues of bilateral and regional level.
