Indian President Ram Nath Kovind arrived to Turkmenistan’s capital Ashgabat on the first-ever visit in the history of bilateral relations on Friday, the Turkmenistan State News Agency said, Trend reports citing TASS.
He will hold talks with Turkmen President Serdar Berdymukhamedov on Saturday to discuss a broad range of issues. The two leaders will also sign a package of documents, aimed at intensifying contacts in many spheres.
Kovind and Berdymukhamedov shook hands during the official welcoming ceremony on Friday.
The negotiations are expected to give a powerful impetus to bilateral relations and take the bilateral dialogue to a new level, the agency reported.
The first-ever visit of the president of India to Turkmenistan is held on the year of the 30th anniversary of establishing bilateral diplomatic relations.
